This
course is appropriate for all levels and ages of
riders. Parents would also find this course fun
and informative and a great way to gain
confidence around horses. Gloves are required
and foot ware that enables you to move around
freely. Junior handlers must wear a hard
hat.
Understanding a
horse's body language is a key factor in
developing mutual trust and respect between the
horse and rider, both on the ground and under
saddle. In this course you will gain more in
depth knowledge on how to control your horse
from the ground by performing various in hand
exercises, beginning with the basics and working
up to more advanced movements. As you improve
your horse handling skills, you will also
observe and learn to interpret the horse's body
language, thereby enabling you to respond
appropriately to the horse's behaviour.
The miniature horses are available for younger
handlers.
How Horses Think
A talk on how horses think will also be
included. Horses communicate with us all the
time. By learning their language we can become
more confident and skilful, both on the ground
while leading, grooming and tacking up and also
when riding.
